Joseph Citroen was a son of Cosman Citroen and Rebecca Pool. He married Margaretha Visser in Amsterdam on 18 December 1902, a daughter of Mozes Visser and Esther Hakker. The couple had two children: Estella and Carel. Both the children and their mother have survived the war.
