Esra came to the Netherlands on December 21st, 1939: he came, indeed, from Brussels, and was exchanged for another boy, who went to Belgium.
Esra could not be at the Youth Aliya Home in Loosdrecht until 7. December 1942, because, according to the transport lists of the Yad Vashem archives he was deported to Auschwitz on 3. November 1942. Therefore he must have gone into hiding in Friesland earlier. He is also commemorated on a memor…
