A letter of Queen Wilhelmina

This letter of 26 July 1946, sent to André's brotherJo Polanus, shows the respect of Queen Wilhelmina by the death of André Polanus.  Translated text in English: As an illegal worker, your brother Andre Jacques, whom you now mourn, was arrested and taken to Poland, where he brought the sacrifice of his life. At this loss I come to express my sincere condolences. Our freedom is partly due to his sacrifice. May his memory remain a support in your future life.  WILHELMINA Private collection

Page 2 of André Jacques Polanus' letter of 20 December 1942 from Wolfenbüttel, which reads: Dear parents and Lotte. On 28 November I have received your letter and I did not read too good news in it. The main thing is however that you are still healty and have good spirit, which is also for me the same. While this time it took only three weeks, so far I did not reveive your answer and because of that I don't know whether you will send me the packet. This letter may be the last one, I hope to be able to come to you myself and find you there in good health. This time I write to Lotte, and expect news from Lotte or from you, how things are going and what I should do. Hoping to see you soon cheerful and in good shape, with kindest regards, ANDRE.
