Op 23 november produceerde de gemeente Meppel een lijst waarop stond wanneer en waar de Meppeler joden naar toe waren 'vertrokken'.

In de Eerste Hoofdstraat in Meppel lag de goud- en zilverwinkel van Van Esso, een begrip in Meppel en wijde omstreken. Een opvallend gebouw, omdat het in de stijl van de Amsterdamse School was gebouwd en afstak tegen de 'oude' panden in haar omgeving. Maurits van Esso - de overleden man van Elizabeth - had met zijn broer de leiding over dit bedrijf.

Maurits van Esso - de man van Elisabeth Cohen - werd op de Isaelitische Begraafplaats in Meppel begraven. Hij overleed op 12 december 1928, op 35-jarige leeftijd.

Elisabeth (Bep) Cohen woonde na het overlijden van haar man Mauritz van Esso bij haar broer Arie in de Emmastraat op nummer 88 (derde woning van rechts, halve huis meegeteld).
