Herman en Rozetta de Vries woonden op Adelheidstraat 32 in Den Haag. Zij pleegden beide zelfmoord door middel van gasverstikking op 15 mei 1940. Reintje Betsy Velleman-Anholt, de zuster van Rozetta, woonde dichtbij op Mariastraat 4, en pleegde met haar gezin op diezelfde nacht zelfmoord.
