Rudolf Pollak en zijn echtgenote waren eigenaar van de firma Gefa Chemicaliën en Fabrieksinrichtingen te Amsterdam. Eind 1938 haalde Rudolf zijn moeder Flora Pollak-Parille vanuit Duitsland naar Nederland.
