Alida Rosette Jacob was de aangenomen dochter van David Barend en Rosetta Barend-Mendels. Zij overleefde tezamen met Rosetta Barend-Mendels een zelfmoordpoging door middel van gasverstikking in hun huis aan de Garenkokerskade 90 in Haarlem. David Barend stierf wel aan de gevolgen hiervan.
