Slagers Löwenhardt en De Leeuw, plm 1940.jpg

Links Julia & Adolf Löwenhardt, gevlucht uit Dortmund, rechts Arnold & Louisa de Leeuw uit Almelo, Enschede plm. 1940. Beide joodse (maar niet koshere) slagers waren afkomstig uit grote slagersgezinnen. Zoon Heinz Löwenhardt trouwde in 1946 met dochter Mimi de Leeuw en zette de slagerij van zijn vermoorde schoonouders aan de Schuttenstraat in Almelo voort.

Johan de Leeuw

Johan zat met zijn zus Mimi ondergedoken bij de familie Ottema aan de Veldkampsweg 10 te Almelo. Hij stond zijn plaats af voor Mimi's verloofde, Heinz Löwenhardt (1913-1989) en kwam met zijn ouders Arnold en Louisa de Leeuw terecht in het Verscholen Dorp bij Vierhouten. Daar werden alle drie op 31 oktober 1944 vermoord.
