Fijtje Emden was a daughter of Joost Emden and Jansje Canes. This couple had eight children, of which seven die not survive the Holocaust: Hijman, Benjamin, Mietje, Abraham, Clara and Vogeltje. Fijtje married in Amsterdam on 31 January 1900.
