Alida Emmerik-Plotske came from a rich family, who owned a big shop in the Kalverstraat in Amsterdam. Alida and her husband however lived in poverty. Alida's family often offered them assistance.

The family Meijer Emmerik, but for son Mozes, were brought to Westerbork in the beginning of October 1942.
Meijer Emmerik and his son Jacob were transferred to camp Neukirch in Breslau, current-day Wrolaw in Poland. They are buried there.
