Marcus was the son of Josua Ortje and Klaartje Lijmer. He married to Elisabeth Vischschraper, the daughter of Marcus Simon Vischschraper and Elsje Meijer Kijser. They had two daughters: Clara and Marianna. Clara died in 1917 when she was 21 years old. Addition of a visitor of the website
