Op woensdag 7 augustus 1940 deed Rosetta Swaab aangifte van vermissing van haar echtgenoot. Nathan was al twee dagen spoorloos, vermoed werd dat hij zich zou kunnen ophouden in de omgeving van Rotterdam of Schiedam.
