Uit bovenstaande verklaring blijkt dat Samuel (samen met zijn vrouw Anna Cats en zijn zoon Bernard Gosschalk) op 25 februari 1944 op transport zijn gesteld naar Theresiënstadt. Dit komt overeen met het afscheidsbriefje dat zij uit Westerbork lieten smokkelen. Vervolgens zijn zij op 23 oktober 1944 naar Auschwitz getransporteerd en omgekomen.
