Leo Sternfeld kreeg op 25 augustus 1942 de oproep zich dezelfde dag te melden in Maastricht. Hij werd van daaruit naar Westerbork gedeporteerd.

Alex Sternfeld and Rosalie Eggers owned a shop in Roermond. The couple had three children of which two no longer lived with their parents. One of them was Albert. When the German troops entered Roermond, the Sternfeld family fled. They most likely returned to Roermond in a short time.
