Flora Arpels was a daughter of Salomon Arpels and Sara Kool. She married Salomon Lezer from Assen in Amsterdam on 11 September 1935, a son of Marcus Lezer and Aaltje Boekbinder. Max Arpels Lezer is de zoon van Flora. Hij overleefde de oorlog in onderduik. Samen met Yolande Gastelaars beschreef hij zijn herinneringen in het boek Max is een hondennaam: een verhaal van onderduik en misbruik (Kampen 2005).
