Philip werd op zaterdag 22 februari 1941 opgepakt bij de razzia in de Jodenbuurt. Net als honderden andere Joodse mannen werd hij die dag in een open vrachtwagen naar kamp Schoorl gebracht en op 27 februari per trein naar Buchenwald.
