Ze trouwden in 1910. In WW I was Paul Josef als Duits staatsburger geinterneerd in Engeland. Rosie verbleef in die tijd met de oudste dochter Marguerite in Hannover bij haar schoonmoeder Clara. Vanaf 1919 verblijft het gezin in Amsterdam. Paul zat in de wijnhandel.
