  Children’s Fair ;     Friday and Saturday was as busy as it had been on Thursday, at the Children’s Fair. The biggest crowd was for Ms. Sophia Santcroos from Velp, who displayed her artistic dances. The talented student from the first Dutch Dance school in Arnhem, showed the public some dances, and had to re enter the stage mane times (encores). Beside this, the Jazz music from the Charley band was a big attraction. They told us that the fair managed to gather over Fl.600,=

This is the marriage record of the parents of Sara Sophia, Jacob David Santcroos and Sientje Levie. Jacob David Santcroos, who was from an ancient Amsterdam, Jewish family, was born in London in 1878. His father was a cigar maker (David Santcroos, born 27 Nov 1839 in Amsterdam). David Santcroos was married to Sara Lopes Salzedo (born, 31 Januar 1850, Amsterdam). Sara came from an interesting and influential family, including aristocrats, bankers. The Lopes Salzedo family had been married into other interesting great and famous Jewish families such as  Mendes da Cosa, Bueno de Mesquita. David was the son of David Israel Santcroos and Sara Namias. David Israel Santcroos worked in the Portugese synagogue in Amsterdam. His parents were Isaac de Moses Israel Santcroos and Judith de Salomon Meza.

Photograph of the brother of Sara Sophia, David Jacob Santcroos, and his wife, Rosa (Regina) Beder.  They survived the Holocaust, by hiding in the house of a contact of Sara's father, Jacob in Velp, the Netherlands.  The van den Berg family, saved 14 Jews by hiding them in their family home at Jeruzalem 31, Velp, the Netherlands. They received due honours at Yad Vashem, Rightwous Among the Nations. Rosa Beder was a sister of 2 other victims on this memorial website: Celine (Beder) Ringer and Jochwet (Beder) Bloemendal.  Please visit their pages to learn more about Rosa and her birth family.

This is David Israel Santcroos and his wife, Sara Namias and their 7 children, which includes Daniel Santcroos. Another descendant in this website, who was murdered was a great-granddaughter of David and Sara:   Sara Sophia Kellerman-Santcroos .
