Max Godfried was not married. He worked as a butcher in the slaughterhouse on the Galgenkampsweg in Meppel, but was dismissed here in 1942 because of his Jewish origin. On 17 August 1942 he was brought to the labour camp Linde from where he was sent to Westerbork the next day.
