Hugo Alexander werd op 18/1/1944 van Westerbork gedeporteerd naar Theresienstadt. Zeven maanden later op 29-8-1944 werd hij gedeporteerd naar Auschwitz, waar hij omkwam. Bron: Yad Vashem.
Broers Bernhard Löwenstein en Siegfried Löwenstein en zus Betty Bernard overleefden. Eén broer van Viola Alexander-Löwenstein, Harry Löwenstein, kwam, net als haar man Hugo Alexander, om in Auschwitz. Een andere zus, Blanka Löwenstein, stierf al in 1914.
