Hugo en Irma Gottschalk-Heymann zaten  in het eerste transport naar Auschwitz van 15 juli 1942. Zij behoorden tot de groep van 100 'Alte Lagerinsassen' van Westerbork die voor dit eerste transport werden geselecteerd.
