Helmut Cahn was a son of Bernhard Cahn and Ida Stern, both coming from Gernsbach, Germany. In 1938 Helmut Cahn was interned at camp Dachau. At a certain moment he was transferred to camp Westerbork and was deported from there. Addition of a visitor of the website

Helmut Cahn zat in het eerste transport naar Auschwitz van 15 juli 1942. Hij behoorde tot de groep van 100 'Alte Lagerinsassen' van Westerbork die voor dit eerste transport werden geselecteerd.
