In 1939 was mr. David Hamburger jr voorzitter van de NBB. In dat jaar emigreerde hij naar Nederlands-Indië. Hij werd opgevolgd door Abraham de Hoop die in juli 1940 met drie andere joodse bestuursleden zijn functie ter beschikking stelde.
