Tombstone for David van Hessen at the Jewish Cemetery at Zandpad in Utrecht. He passed away 21 June 1943 in Utrecht and was interred there two days later. This tombstone is also a memorial for his wife Adelheid Hilde Weil, who was killed 23 May 1943 in Sobibor and for their son, who was killed in Auschwitz on 29 February 1944.
The police commissioner of the central investigation service in The Hague requested that Jules van Hessen, a Jew who had left the home of his parents at 11 De Mildestraat in The Hague on 26 July 1942, be located and returned. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding.
