Saartje Hofstede was married to Simon Valk. The couple had two children who both survived the war. A sisiter of Saartje, Reina Hofstede, lived with her in the same house. Simon Valk was married to Saartje Hofstede. The couple lived in the Goudsestraat in Rotterdam. A sister of Saartje Hofstede, Reina Hofstede, lived together with them. Simon Valk was a teacher.
