Ernst Sigmund was married to Kätchen Kaufmann. Ernst Sigmund was a businessman. He lived from 1927 to 1933 in Worms before he moved with his family to the Netherlands.

Ernst Sigmund had found a hiding place in Huizen. Shortly before he was supposed to move in, he brought a few personal possessions there. The day before he himself was to move, he was arrested and deported. Some of Ernst Sigmund’s possessions have been preserved, including a set of cutlery.
