Arthur Sachs, born 2 August 1866 in Schönlanke, was a bookkeeper by profession, the son of Julius and Auguste Sachs, née Magnus of Schönlanke; he immigrated to Holland before First World War. On 19 August 1896 he married Johanna Pinto in Vlissingen. Their daughter Nelly Augusta was born on 29 November 1897 in Vlissingen, their son Julius Bernhard on 14 April 1899 in Vlissingen. Arthur and Johanna's marriage marriage was dissolved on 18 June 1934 in Amsterdam; (Johanna Pinto died 18 June 1935). Between 23 August 1937 and 24 May 1940 Arthur was registered at various addresses in Amsterdam (Hoendiepstr. 16 huis, and Amsteldijk 16 huis; his last known address in Amsterdam was Dietzestraat 15 II). On 27 March 1943 the seventy-seven year old Arthur Sachs was arrested and subsequently deported from Camp Westerbork on 6 April 1943 to the Sobibór extermination camp, murdered on arrival on 9 April 1943. His son Julius Bernhard together with wife Bertha née Dikker (born 22 October 1907 in Amsterdam) and daughter Johanna Sophia (born 28 October 1932) lived in Amsterdam, Zuider Amstellaan 29, I, their last known registered address; however the family was arrested on 12 April 1943 in Zwolle, Overijssel and subsequently incarcerated in the police station in the town Vollenhove. On 19 April 1943 at 9:00 am they were taken to Westerbork to be deported to Sobibór on 30 April.
The fate of daughter Nelly Augusta is uncertain.
